Description

Each member of our family is so different, like individual components of a symphony. But, like a symphony, each part is important to the overall structure and sound of the piece. We all work together to make a beautiful sound...our family. Just as the Lord knit us together in the womb, He is now knitting us together as a family, for His glory, outside the womb.

Jesus Loves the Little Children

This past Sunday, I prepared the children's Sunday School lesson on "Jesus Blesses the Little Children". It was focused on how Jesus loves you and always has time for you because He is always with you. The scripture was Matthew 19:13-15. One of the games they played was a racing game. They would run, hop, crawl, etc. to a marked spot and once they got there they had to recite the memory verse: "Jesus loves me!", and then run back. I was in the nursery, downstairs, with Aria and could hear the pitter patter of their feet running back and forth as they played.
The story they read was "Jesus Blesses the Children", an Arch book. I love having a theme and sticking with it! I was so excited when I found this book online. So, Brad, the kids and I trekked out to the Bible Superstore one night to see if they had it, but they didn't. I wish there were more Christian bookstores up here. I miss Mardel. Anyway, thankfully, my mom was coming up on Friday (last Friday), so she picked this one up for me at Mardel on her way up.
I love my mom! She is so loving and selfless. On that side note, my mom came up for the night, giving Brad and I a date night and a date morning the next day. For our date night, we went to this grungy little tavern/grill in old town. We like those types of places, but we don't get to go to them much because they aren't really family friendly. In the morning, we had a delicious breakfast at "The Rainbow", a vegetarian restaurant near campus, and then walked over to the new music building to look around. We also picked up a cup of coffee, for Brad, and green tea latte, for me, on the way back to the car. It was wonderful! Thank you mom!
Back to the lesson. They also made "Jesus Loves the Little Children" bracelets. They put different colored beads on to represent all the different people Jesus loves, just like in the song.
For the snack, I baked vanilla-banana cupcakes with a cherry in the middle. The cherry represented how Christ is in us, which is why we can talk to Him whenever we want and He will always hear us. I figured the kids wouldn't actually get to the cherry because they usually just lick the frosting off and are done...and as predicted, that is what they did. Stephanie broke one open, though, to show them what was inside. So remember, no matter where you are or what's going on, talk to God because He is always with you!
