Description

Each member of our family is so different, like individual components of a symphony. But, like a symphony, each part is important to the overall structure and sound of the piece. We all work together to make a beautiful sound...our family. Just as the Lord knit us together in the womb, He is now knitting us together as a family, for His glory, outside the womb.

I Choose You!

We celebrated F's 6th birthday, recently, and he requested a Pokemon theme.  What a great theme to work with!  There were so many party game ideas I had going through my head, but he was more interested in having a sleepover with his friend and older cousin.  So, I didn't want to embarass F by having little kid games with his older cousin around, so I held myself back.
For the invitations, I used old cd's to create Pokemon ball invites.  I printed the information on a circular template and attached it with a brad.  So, you could just spin the cd to see the party details.  I used black electrical tape for the black strip in the middle and wrote a number 6 on the white circle in the middle since he was turning 6.

His party wasn't on his actual birthday, so we had a donut celebration that morning.
For his party, I hung fishing bobbers up to look like Pokemon balls.
I found these great plastic balls at the Party Store which were perfect for the party guests' party favors.  I used the electrical tape to create the black line in the middle.  Then, each kid got their ball filled with party favors!

For the cake, I used my dome pan to create a hollow ball cake that I decorated to look like a Pokemon ball.  Before frosting, I filled the empty cavity with small Pokemon figurines that came out when we cut into the cake.  Because, that's what your supposed to have inside a Pokemon ball...a Pokemon (or a few in our case)!
B took the older kids to Fort Fun for mini-golf and games before dinner.  Once back at home, the kids ate pizza and played games, mostly Mario Kart.  This was the first time we've ever had anyone spend the night, so all of the kids were very excited and wanted to sleep in the living room.  It was a full floor!
Happy 6th, Finners!

Very Be-lated Birthday!

This is a very late post, but Finners turned 5 a few months ago!

B was out of town for F's annual birthday picnic at Granny's, but the rest of us went down and had a great time!

To celebrate at home, F wanted a Plants vs. Zombies party.
I decorated with floating zombies.
We played a shoot the zombie head game.  I laminated the zombie heads and then attached bells so that they would ring when shot.

We used homemade marshmallow shooters.

It was hard for the kids not to eat all of the ammo.
We drank zombie brains (lime flavored drink), ate zombie heads (nasty key lime flavored marshmallows, but the kids seemed to like them), zombie boogers (green popcorn), and "sunflower" apples and peanut butter.

No Plants vs. Zombies party is complete without a cake!

4th birthday

I'm 4!
This year's party was an Angry Birds theme.
Finn got some Angry Birds toys,
As well as a T-ball stand that automatically pitched the ball.  All the kids enjoyed this toy.

We enjoyed some delicious and colorful Angry Birds cupcakes.
Bowling was a lot of fun!
Full of colorful balls
and stringy mozzarella sticks.

Atticus had fun too, despite the Dumb and Dumber haircut his daddy gave him that morning.:)
