Description

Each member of our family is so different, like individual components of a symphony. But, like a symphony, each part is important to the overall structure and sound of the piece. We all work together to make a beautiful sound...our family. Just as the Lord knit us together in the womb, He is now knitting us together as a family, for His glory, outside the womb.

School Starts!

So, we had our first week of school and everyone survived (I barely made it, though:))!  Once I get this new routine down, including the driving, baby feedings, kid feedings, teaching, diaper changes and naps, we will be cruising!
Cadence started our week off on Monday by beginning online school.  We do our offline work downstairs, in our "school room", and our online work upstairs on the computer.  Tuesday and Thursday, she got to go to Poudre Global Academy, her school, to have half day classes with her peers and kindergarten teacher.  She really enjoyed it!  Her school's mascot is the Pioneers and their colors are blue and gold.
Wednesday, Aria was off to her first day of school at Little Lambs, where they just started a 2-year-old program.  She was a champ and went right to playing when we arrived.  No tears from this little girl!  It was funny picking her up, though, because all the moms were waiting outside the classroom door and when the door opened, all the 2-year-olds came out looking stunned.  They had these expressions on their faces like, "What just happened?  Why was I in there?  Have you been standing out here the whole time?".
Finally, Finn headed off to his first day of preschool for the year on Thursday.  He has a new teacher this year and seemed to like her.  He was much more positive about his preschool experience this year than last year.  I think he is growing to like it.

I must say, it was good to have more activities for the kids to do and I like the added structure.  Now, it's just a matter of getting a grasp of everything.  It will come soon, I'm sure!

I finished decorating our school room.  I cut an old globe in half and turned it into two hanging lamps.  I also made a whiteboard to put in front of the fireplace that we never use.

Preschool Christmas Program

Here is a video of Finn and Cadence's Christmas program.  Sorry for the shakiness and big head in front of me.:)  As you'll see, Cadence is very serious and concentrating on the words and what's next.  I love to watch her.  Finn seems a little distracted but is so stinkin' cute!

First Day of School

This week, Cadence and Finn had their first days of preschool.  Cadence returned on Monday for her last year of preschool.  She slipped right back into the routine, no problem.  I'm going to be helping in her class every Monday, so it was fun and helpful to see what she learns and how her teacher runs the class, since the kids tend to leave a lot out when you ask them to tell you about their day.  I think it will be useful for me to see how her teacher runs the classroom to give me tips and ideas for when we start homeschool next year.

First Day of Preschool

Today was Cadence's first day of preschool for the year. She goes Tuesday and Thursday mornings. To celebrate her first day I bought her a new dress and sparkly pink Toms. So cute! I think I was more excited about the outfit, especially the shoes, than her.

Finn was also dressed up in his tie shirt and plaid shorts. He had to go to the doctor today to get shots, not as fun as preschool. He did great, though! No tears. Lightening McQueen came along for moral support.

Afterwards, we got red slushies from Sonic to celebrate making it through his doctor's appointment so well and for Cadence's first day of preschool. She had a lot of fun! She drew a picture of me and a picture of flowers. She even had pink feet because they painted something with their feet and it turned their feet pink. Most of the kids in her class were first timers, so there were a lot of emotional parents there. I was glad to already have a year of preschool under my belt and feel comfortable leaving her there. It was also nice that she was comfortable with it and didn't have any emotional break-downs when I left. A great day!
